Content Writing 101
Hello! Thank you for reading my blog right now! If you are in the right place (and I hope you are), ask yourself, why are you reading this blog, and not my home page? Is it because you are interested in learning about content writing? Perhaps you read my blog on SEO and want to learn more about boosting your webpage traffic?
Regardless of why you are reading this blog, you are on this page. You are on my website, one step closer to connecting with us.
To keep this short and sweet, blogs are a great way to spark specific, niche interests that your target demographic may have.
How to choose a blog topic
For example, if you are a company that sells juicer machines, and if you’ve done your keyword research, you may know that some of your keywords are “juice,” “health,” “fruits,” and “vegetables” (to name a few). In order to create content that targets customers who are searching these things, a sample blog post title could be “Best Fruits and Vegetables for Healthy Juice.” It’s that easy.
How to structure your blog
To take it one step further, if you do decide to write a blog on “Best Fruits and Vegetables for Healthy Juice,” include a subsection on “Healthy Fruits” and “Unhealthy Fruits”, and a subsection on “Healthy Vegetables” and “Unhealthy Vegetables”. Subsections are a great way to address other auto-populated search queries, and when you are writing the content, think of it as a Q & A.
What to do after you have written your blog
Not only do you have to make sure your content is search engine optimized, but you need to make sure your title tags, meta descriptions, and image alt text are as well. Think of your title tag and meta description as a brief title and summary of your blog content, and think of your image alt text as a description for your image. This is easy to make, there should be a section for you to write image alt text, as well as a title tag and meta description before you publish your blog. One thing to note: make sure that your meta description is less than 180 characters – keep it concise and Google will thank you.
If you also are wise enough to use SEO ranked subsections, if you later set up FAQ Schema, your page ranking will be within the top ten. There are many free FAQ schema generators online. Simply copy and paste the subtitles of your blogs, as well as the following blocks of texts, to generate FAQ schema. Simply copy and paste the auto-generated FAQ schema code into your html editor, publish the blog, then submit to Google Search Console for indexing (this is how Google recognizes a new page). This will also result in increased page views and interactions.
Be sure to keep writing blogs!
Google not only responds to keyword research-dense content, but it also responds positively to constant changes being made on a website. Try to publish at least one blog a week and be sure to submit to Google Search Console for indexing after publication. Even if you are running out of blog content (and this should be after years considering how many keywords there are to target, regardless of industry), you can always have your top performing blogs rewritten.
